Good job, Ted. I always liked the KX-155. Darn good radios. Had a pair of them in a 421 that always performed flawlessly. Actually had several of them over the years.
Good choice! It just works. No negative comments here. I learn a lot from you and other youtubers. Keep it up!
Thanks for the video. They were able to refurbish my KX155 for what I thought was a reasonable price. I recall it being around $430 including shipping. It still only comes on about 50% of the time. I fly out of the Phoenix area and suspect the issue may be heat related. I really like the nav/com when it works. I just wish it worked more often.
Great motivation. Got my ppl and bought a 172, Thinking about IFR course next. That’s a beautiful area. Where do ya fly out of ? Love the water all over the place.
In your panel, the audio panel is on top, then I’m guessing Nav/Com 1 and then the KX155 is below that (Nav/Com 2?). What is in your NavCom 1 spot? Does the Garmin Xpdr satisfy ADS B?
They've got my Collins VIR-351, hopefully it'll come back in working condition!
whilie the king silver crown series radios have been a staple in cockpits for decades.. and i've had many panels stuffed with them along the way.. i would have spent the grand or $1500 more and got a good used GNS430W.. so much more bang for the buck.. but hey, that's just me.. nothing wrong with king.. just seems like with the other parts of your panel needing some TLC, knocking out the GPS and nav/coms together in a good serviceable package for just a little more investment would have been a better move for me. that being said, it's retro cool and will serve you well for many years..
Didn't you buy the TKM? How did it compare?
I see your at VKX, Im looking to rent/club aircraft in the SOMD area. Would you recommend GT?
How are you liking the dual G5's and are they being used with your current gps? I am assuming no auto pilot either?
I’m 38 and I’m thinking I’m too old to fly
I would have to disagree with you on this one. I would have gone with the TKM or GPS/VOR/NAV/COM given your desires to do more IFR flying. Good luck.
Congrats
what's with the music cant even watch but would like to without mute the volume
why have the music so loud i would rather hear the air rushing past the aircraft than go deaf listening to rubbish music.
